Pre-production

Pre-production includes research to discover how best to inform the target audience and decide on a treatment. The recommended approach might be documentary, drama based, or presented in a news style. Once we have presented the programme approach and this has been agreed, we work with our clients to produce a script which goes through testing and quality assurance processes. Locations are visited and any necessary permissions applied for. The film crew and other services are hired in and if actors are involved we start the casting process. Filming dates are arranged with any interviewees. Once the script is signed off, a filming schedule is agreed
  Filming

Filming usually takes the shortest proportion of the total production time and typically may take from one to five days. The film crew can range from a simple shoot requiring only a cameraman, to a full crew with a director, lighting cameraman, camera assistant, sound recordist, electrician, production manager and runner. Filming might take place in customers’ premises such as offices or factories, in private houses or green field sites, and can be recorded anywhere in the UK or abroad. Filming can also be undertaken in the studio.
  Post Production

Post-production is where the final programme is created. The filmed material is previewed and logged and decisions made about the best shots and performances. These are transferred to hard disc in the edit system. Meanwhile electronic graphics are being designed and produced and the ‘voice-over’ recorded in the studio. Depending on the complexity and length of the programme, it can take between one and two weeks to create the first edit. This then goes through preview, modification and approval stages before sign-off and duplication.
  Distribution

In many cases the distribution is made on the proven medium of the VHS cassette as nearly everyone can access it. Increasingly we are releasing programmes on DVD with the advantages of better quality output, and the ability to play segments of the programme at the touch of a button. Once the distribution media is determined we arrange for the design, printing and packaging of the product in the quantities required.
If required we can also conduct quality and effectiveness assessments in conjunction with you, after the programme has been used.
